Context
On June 8, 2014, Gelsenkirchen welcomes Annihilator with Feast still fresh and Dave Padden on lead vocals. The amphitheater hosts the twelfth edition of Rock Hard Festival. Between the new album and the old catalog, the band finds room for both without turning the show into a chronological retrospective.
Smear Campaign opens the show, and No Way Out and Deadlock round out Feast's presence in the first four numbers. Padden splits guitars and vocals with Jeff Waters; Oscar Rangel and Mike Harshaw complete the quartet. Then Alison Hell, Road to Ruin and Brain Dance lead the way to Human Insecticide.
The show belongs to Padden's last year in the band: he leaves at the end of 2014. The Rockpalast cameras preserve this lineup, and WDR includes Annihilator in its TV coverage of the festival. The record keeps a passage between cycles, with the Feast songs set against a repertoire that spans different singers.
- Three songs from Feast come in within the show's first four numbers.
