Context
Metallica arrives at the City of Rock in September 2015 with room to bring back songs rarely heard in the country. King Nothing had not been played in Brazil for more than sixteen years. The night of September 19 also brings the Brazilian debuts of Turn the Page and The Frayed Ends of Sanity.
Fuel opens the performance, followed by For Whom the Bell Tolls and Battery. Ride the Lightning runs into audio problems that cause an interruption in the sequence. Cyanide represents Death Magnetic among titles from other periods. The selection spans nine albums, with five songs from the record known as the Black Album and visits to the early work.
Whiskey in the Jar enters the encore with a dedication to Cliff Burton. Nothing Else Matters and Enter Sandman close the night. The official archive keeps the setlist and its particulars. The recording matters for the reach of the catalog and the recovered songs, but it also keeps the technical mishap that runs through the performance.
