Context
On November 12, 2007, entry to the Festsaal Messe in Basel depends on a drawing, not a box office. After performances in other European cities, Mark Knopfler arrives at AVO Session with Kill to Get Crimson freshly released. The format is a showcase, inside the festival's club atmosphere.
On stage, Knopfler brings together Luke Brighty on guitar, Guy Fletcher on keyboards, Dudley Phillips on bass and Danny Cummings on drums. Donegan's Gone opens the sequence. Let It All Go, The Fizzy and the Still and True Love Will Never Fade present the new album, among songs from Golden Heart and Shangri-La.
Brothers in Arms holds the stop at Dire Straits before the close with Our Shangri-La. The production for Swiss television preserves this snapshot of the solo career. In 2008, the album's promotion moves on to a tour of Europe and North America; Basel remains as the record of the earlier promotional phase.
- Brothers in Arms is the only bridge to Dire Straits, right before Our Shangri-La.
