“To see the four founders reunited in Tokyo on the tour celebrating Asia's 25 years.”
Context
More than two decades separate Asia's first era from the reunion of its four founders, announced in 2006. On March 8, 2007, John Wetton, Steve Howe, Geoff Downes and Carl Palmer arrive at the Shinjuku Kosei Nenkin Hall in Tokyo, with the 25th-anniversary celebration under way.
Time Again opens the set, which spreads the debut's nine songs among reminders of the earlier bands. Roundabout meets Wetton's voice; Fanfare for the Common Man revives Palmer's link to Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Howe takes Intersection Blues, and The Heat Goes On makes room for the drum solo.
The reunion does not stop at recovering the past: Phoenix arrives in 2008 and opens a new run of albums with the quartet. The Japanese night is released on CD and DVD that same year, 2007, as Fantasia: Live in Tokyo. The recording fixes the reunion before it turns into new studio work.
- The Heat Goes On includes Carl Palmer's drum solo.
