Context
On January 31, 1995, KISS wraps up its visit to Japan with a second consecutive night at the Budokan. The makeup is still off. Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons share the stage with Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer, the lineup that recorded Revenge and anchors this leg of the Kiss My Ass Tour.
King of the Night Time World leads into Deuce and Shout It Out Loud. The sequence moves through the 1970s without leaving the following decade behind: Tears Are Falling, Lick It Up and Forever take their places among Parasite, She and Black Diamond. Domino brings Revenge into a 23-song night that closes with Rock and Roll All Nite.
After Japan, the tour heads to Australia. Later in 1995, the conventions and MTV Unplugged bring the group closer to Ace Frehley and Peter Criss again, ahead of the 1996 reunion. The professional Budokan footage circulates in unofficial releases, preserving the quartet without makeup before that change in direction.
