Context
Twenty-five years after the first Woodstock, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and Joey Kramer return to the festival in a different position: all three were at the 1969 edition as spectators. Now Aerosmith closes Saturday on the north stage at Winston Farm, in Saugerties, during the long Get a Grip tour.
Eat the Rich opens the set and establishes the weight of the recent album on the night. Cryin' and Crazy share space with Mama Kin and Toys in the Attic. Perry takes the mic on Stop Messin' Around and Walk On Down, while Tyler leads the sequence that runs through Dream On and Livin' on the Edge.
After Saugerties, the tour continues until December 1994, wrapping up at the Mama Kin Music Hall in Boston. Woodstock gets a compilation album and a film on VHS and Laserdisc that same year. Aerosmith's extended set belongs to the festival broadcast: a meeting between the memory of 1969 and its commercial renewal in the 1990s.
- Joe Perry sings Stop Messin' Around and Walk On Down in the middle of the set.
