Context
On February 4, 1995, the Maracanã hosts the farewell of a visit that took more than three decades to happen. The Rolling Stones close their first trip to Brazil on the second Rio night of Hollywood Rock. The Voodoo Lounge Tour arrives in the country without Bill Wyman, with Darryl Jones on bass.
Not Fade Away opens the show, and Tumbling Dice comes right after. Five tracks from Voodoo Lounge share space with songs from other decades, from Satisfaction to Start Me Up. Keith Richards takes the microphone on Happy and The Worst. Midnight Rambler and Monkey Man also find a place among the hits.
Globo takes the performance live to free-to-air television, with cameras spread around the stadium and commentary by Maurício Kubrusly. The coverage is part of the network's 30th-anniversary celebrations. After Brazil, the tour moves on to Argentina. The recording preserves the close of this first visit as a full night, not just a selection of hits.
- Keith Richards sings Happy and The Worst back to back.
