Context
Five years separate Evolution from Gloria Estefan's previous tour. On September 21, 1996, the singer returns to the Miami Arena with Destiny as her current album and Reach tied to the Atlanta Olympic Games. The hometown stop is also broadcast live on HBO.
Onstage, Gloria brings together Miami Sound Machine and dancers in a sequence that alternates English and Spanish. Conga opens the way for Get on Your Feet; Mi tierra and Con los años que me quedan take the center. Jon Secada comes in for the ballads, before Turn the Beat Around and the megamix.
The journey continues in 1997, taking Evolution to other continents. The special gets a home VHS release later in 1996 and then reaches DVD. Reach closes the night and fixes the meeting between the new album, the Olympic exposure and the return to big tours.
- Jon Secada shares three ballads with Gloria in the middle section.
