Born in Havana, Jon Secada moved to the United States with his family as a child and settled in Miami. Before his solo career, he sang backing vocals for Gloria Estefan and co-wrote songs on Into the Light, including “Coming Out of the Dark”.
In 1992, he released the album Jon Secada and its Spanish-language version, Otro Día Más Sin Verte, which topped the Latin chart and earned him a Grammy. Heart, Soul & a Voice and Amor carried the career forward.
