Tour album.5: The Gray Chapter2014 · Prepare for Hell TourThe Prepare for Hell Tour promotes The Gray Chapter, with five songs from the album on the Rio night.“For Slipknot's return to the festival with Jay Weinberg and Alessandro Venturella, on Clown's birthday.”
Context
Four years after the 2011 performance, Slipknot returns to Rock in Rio with a different lineup. Jay Weinberg takes over the drums and Alessandro Venturella plays bass in the The Gray Chapter era. The night of September 25, 2015, also falls on the birthday of Shawn Crahan, the Clown, which is folded into the celebration on stage.
Sarcastrophe starts the live block. The Devil in I, AOV and Killpop put the new album at the center of the set, while Wait and Bleed, Duality and Disasterpiece keep the earlier catalog in circulation. The crowd sings happy birthday to Clown before Duality. In the encore, the recorded opener 742617000027 sets up the entrance of (sic).
People = Shit and Surfacing close the songs played by the band. The performance documents the Prepare for Hell Tour in a phase of rebuilding after the changes on bass and drums. The recent songs come in among older titles, and the percussionist's birthday gives the Rio stop a specific mark within the tour.
