Context
On August 27, 1994, the Pacaembu hosts the first Brazilian edition of Monsters of Rock. Angra arrives with just one album out and a slot on a bill that includes Kiss, Black Sabbath and Slayer. Angels Cry had already opened doors in Japan; now the scale is that of a São Paulo stadium.
Carry On opens the run preserved in the broadcast. Streets of Tomorrow, Time and Angels Cry keep the focus on the debut album, with Andre Matos out front, Rafael Bittencourt and Kiko Loureiro on guitars, Luis Mariutti on bass and Ricardo Confessori on drums. Confessori's solo closes this cut of just over twenty-three minutes.
The camera extends the reach of that festival set: the footage also feeds the Carry On video. The recording circulates as an MTV Brasil television document, but it does not preserve the whole show. Evil Warning is left out of the original broadcast. The difference matters: what remains is a short window onto Angra's first tour.
- Footage from the show also gives rise to the Carry On music video.
