Angra formed in São Paulo in 1991 and debuted with Angels Cry, which introduced its mix of power metal and elements of Brazilian music. Holy Land expanded that direction in 1996. After lineup changes and a period of inactivity, the band returned in 2001 with Rebirth, its first album with Edu Falaschi on vocals. Temple of Shadows, from 2004, cemented that phase. The group carried on through further lineup changes.
