Context
On May 12, 2001, the road takes Nevermore to the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale. Dead Heart in a Dead World had come out the year before and widened the band's international schedule. The Florida stop is part of the American run with Opeth, after European dates that crossed new territory.
Narcosynthesis opens the show, followed by Inside Four Walls and Engines of Hate. The recent album takes up almost the entire program, but Next in Line, The Seven Tongues of God and two tracks from Dreaming Neon Black keep the earlier path in view. Curran Murphy adds a second guitar to the core of Dane, Loomis, Sheppard and Williams.
The tour carries on through 2001, while the next studio album, Enemies of Reality, only arrives in 2003. The Fort Lauderdale show remains on the unofficial recording circuit, already mentioned among collectors in 2002. That is its place: a club document from the era when Dead Heart dominates the road.
- Curran Murphy completes the stage lineup as second guitarist.
