Context
The European summer starts at the Nürburgring for Avenged Sevenfold. On June 2, 2018, the band arrives at Rock am Ring with The Stage as the backbone of the tour. Brooks Wackerman is on drums, and the set puts that era next to songs gathered since Waking the Fallen.
The Stage opens the show. God Damn keeps the recent album in play, while Afterlife, Nightmare and Bat Country run through earlier eras. Wish You Were Here adds Pink Floyd to the journey. A Little Piece of Heaven comes before the encore, made up of Shepherd of Fire and Unholy Confessions.
The German stop belongs to the tour for The Stage, which continues to other European stages that month. The recording preserves a festival broadcast, with twelve identified songs. The meeting of recent album, band memory and a cover fills the same night, without turning the show into a chronological retrospective.
