Why watch

“To see the Black Crowes close Pinkpop 1993, on the second-album tour.”

Context

On May 31, 1993, Pinkpop brings together Rage Against the Machine, Living Colour and Lenny Kravitz before handing the close to the Black Crowes. The band reaches Landgraaf on the High as the Moon tour, a year after taking its second album to number one in the United States.

Chris Robinson takes the vocals, while Rich Robinson and Marc Ford share the guitars. Eddie Harsch handles keyboards, with Johnny Colt and Steve Gorman in the rhythm section. The set brings Twice as Hard and Jealous Again close to Thorn in My Pride and Remedy, also making room for the instrumental The Jam.

Three Little Birds and Hard to Handle bring Bob Marley and Otis Redding to the same stage. After that season, Amorica arrives in 1994 and continues the lineup with Ford and Harsch. The festival's audiovisual recording preserves a stage between the commercial triumph of Southern Harmony and the next album.
