Context
On June 10, 2007, Donington welcomes Iron Maiden as headliner for the fourth time. The return crosses two moments: the A Matter of Life and Death era and the 25th anniversary of The Number of the Beast. After playing the recent album in full in 2006, the band shifts the balance.
Different World opens the show, followed by These Colours Don't Run and Brighter Than a Thousand Suns. The past comes in with Wrathchild, during which Bruce Dickinson falls and keeps singing. Children of the Damned is part of the 1982 block; on that album's title track, Bruce handles the intro alone, without instrumental backing.
The night also crosses the screen: Download streams the full show online, Live Nation's first initiative of the kind at the festival. The tour ends two weeks later, at a benefit for Clive Burr at the Brixton Academy. The DVD considered at Donington never materializes; the recording remains tied to the stream.
- Bruce falls during Wrathchild but does not stop singing.
