Context
On January 22, 1981, Iron Maiden's next step has yet to reach stores. Adrian Smith had replaced Dennis Stratton at the end of the previous year. In Bremen, the band records for German television before the release of Killers and the start of its first world tour.
Paul Di'Anno takes the microphone, with Dave Murray and Smith on guitars, Steve Harris on bass and Clive Burr on drums. Prowler opens the live performance. Wrathchild, Innocent Exile, Killers and Another Life share space with the debut album. Remember Tomorrow needs a restart; Sanctuary gets a second take at the close.
The session reaches television in April 1981, as the band widens its international circuit. Di'Anno leaves the group in September, and Bruce Dickinson takes over. Decades later, in 2018, Beat-Club makes the complete restored version available: the recording also preserves the repeats that a short edit left behind.
- Remember Tomorrow and Sanctuary come back in new takes during the television session.
