Context
On July 10, 1985, Live Aid is three days away, but Dire Straits' address is Wembley Arena, not the stadium next door. Brothers in Arms had reached stores in May. The tour puts the new songs beside the compositions that already carried the shows.
Mark Knopfler takes vocals and guitar, with Jack Sonni on second guitar and John Illsley on bass. Alan Clark and Guy Fletcher share keyboards; Terry Williams is on drums and Chris White adds horns. So Far Away and Why Worry represent the new album, while Sultans of Swing and Tunnel of Love keep the tie to the earlier ones.
Three days later, the band takes Money for Nothing and Sultans of Swing to Live Aid, with Sting on the former. The arena night reaches another destination: part of the recording airs on Channel 4's The Tube in January 1986. With no complete official release, the recording circulates in unofficial editions, among them Wembley Does the Walk.
