Context
In August 2019, Fort Worden hosts the first THING, in Port Townsend. Within the festival, KEXP sets up its broadcasts at Rainshadow Recording. Orville Peck arrives with only one album out: Pony, which had introduced his country of love and loss five months earlier.
At the August 24 session, Peck performs acoustically with Bria Salmena and Duncan Hay Jennings. Roses Are Falling opens the run, followed by Turn to Hate and Dead of Night. The close steps outside the debut album and lands on Breathe, a song recorded by Faith Hill.
After the broadcast, the session circulates on video through KEXP in November. The recording preserves a small, defined slice of that first year of Pony: four songs, two accompanists and a closing choice that brings Peck's own songs close to Faith Hill's mainstream country.
- Faith Hill's Breathe closes the session after three songs from Pony.
