Orville Peck turned the anonymity of the mask into a stage language to put melodrama, desire and loneliness back at the center of contemporary country. Between the dark echo of Pony, the cinematic scale of Bronco and the collaborations of Stampede, his work brings together western tradition, crooner style and queer culture without treating any of them as a prop. Mule, released in 2026, takes that persona into more autobiographical and vulnerable territory.
