Context
A light mist is falling when Willie Nelson & Family take the stage in Virginia Beach. At 93, the singer closes Farm Aid's first visit to the city. Forty-one years after the festival was founded, the defense of family farming still brings Nelson and Neil Young together on the same night.
Whiskey River opens the musical sequence. Lily Meola comes in on Will You Remember Mine, and Lukas shares Just Breathe with his father. Waylon Payne takes Help Me Make It Through the Night; Micah sings Everything Is Bullshit. Further on, Young returns for Are There Any More Real Cowboys?, bringing two of the event's founders together.
The finale gathers Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff, Lily Meola and members of the Turnpike Troubadours around Nelson. Will the Circle Be Unbroken?, I'll Fly Away and I Saw the Light close the set. The online, TV and radio broadcast carries this gathering beyond the amphitheater: the cause stays at the center.
- Neil Young returns to sing Are There Any More Real Cowboys? with Nelson.
