Context
Before taking the stage in Austin, Alan Jackson used to watch on television the singers who helped shape his taste for country. Now he returns to the show that had already hosted him in the 1991 season. The distance between the viewer from Georgia and the featured artist fits inside this return.
In Studio 6A, Jackson opens with Don't Rock the Jukebox and Chasin' That Neon Rainbow. Livin' on Love, Summertime Blues and I Don't Even Know Your Name put Who I Am at the center of the performance. Between the hits, he sings Hank Williams, Merle Haggard and George Jones, keeping his influences inside the show.
The performance reaches television in the twentieth season of Austin City Limits, aired in 1995, with an episode devoted entirely to the singer. Decades later, Livin' on Love is included on the DVD compilation Austin City Limits Country. The recording preserves the meeting between Jackson's commercial expansion and the program that fed his formation.
