United States
Setlist not available.
Album featured at the showAll Jacked Up2005The special presents acoustic versions of several tracks from the second album, including Skoal Ring, Politically Uncorrect and California Girls.“To see Gretchen Wilson trade the scale of the stage for the staged intimacy of her first DVD.”
Context
After the show, the music keeps going. That is the premise of Undressed: Gretchen Wilson walks through the hallways and takes the performance into a dressing-room setting. The singer who had made her mark with Redneck Woman trades the scale of the spectacle for an acoustic gathering with her band and crew.
Acoustic guitar, fiddle, dobro and drums played with brushes carry stripped-down versions of Skoal Ring and One Bud Wiser. Wilson also sings Good Morning Heartache, associated with Billie Holiday, opening a passage beyond country. The intimacy is built for the camera: the backstage set is part of the special's staging.
CMT is already airing Undressed in September 2005. In February 2006, the program reaches DVD, gathering performances, interviews and road footage in about an hour. The recording preserves a specific choice from that early stage of her career: presenting the voice and the musicians on a smaller scale, outside the frame of the big stage.
- Good Morning Heartache makes room for Billie Holiday in a session centered on country.
