Context
At half past four in the afternoon, the Landgraaf field is still filling up. On June 10, 2016, The Common Linnets make their Pinkpop debut and open the main stage. Two years after finishing second at Eurovision, Ilse DeLange arrives with a different lineup and two albums in the repertoire.
Jake Etheridge sings Soho Waltz, Matthew Crosby shares duets with Ilse and JB Meijers takes the vocal spot beside her on Calm After the Storm. Four guitarists give the songs their body. We Don't Make the Wind Blow and Hearts on Fire meet a crowd that also listens sitting on the grass.
Calm After the Storm closes the performance and reconnects this lineup to the song that carried the group beyond the Netherlands. The broadcast recording preserves this meeting between the memory of Eurovision and the II era: a band that shares out the voices instead of relying only on the original duo.
- Jake Etheridge takes Soho Waltz, while Matthew Crosby shares duets with Ilse DeLange.
