Context
In December 2007, Maria Bethânia arrives at Citibank Hall with a show that has already traveled across Brazil, Latin America, and Europe. The journey began with two albums from 2006: Mar de Sophia and Pirata. One looks toward the ocean; the other seeks Brazil's inland waters.
Onstage, Bethânia links singing and spoken word under Jaime Alem's musical direction. Sophia de Mello Breyner meets Dorival Caymmi; Guimarães Rosa and João Cabral appear along the way. Bia Lessa's direction and the script developed with Fauzi Arap bring cohesion to the passage between orixás, memories of Santo Amaro, and love songs.
The São Paulo filming resolves an interrupted story. In August, the singer had rejected the footage shot at Canecão, although the audio yielded a double album that same year. The new recording arrives on DVD in 2009, directed by Andrucha Waddington. Preserved are not only the musical performances, but also the connections between poem, memory, and song.
- Debaixo d'Água meets a reading of Agora, by Titãs, in the same segment.

Trivia
The first filming of the show, at Canecão in August 2007, was rejected by Bethânia; the version released on DVD comes from the December recording in São Paulo.
The double CD and DVD of the same name document different performances: the audio comes from Canecão, and the film from Citibank Hall.
Agora, by Titãs, appears as a reading, linked to Debaixo d'Água.
