Context
On December 5, 2012, Arpoador hosts a stage open to the public for the recording of Bebel Gilberto's first DVD. After more than twenty years living abroad, the singer chooses the Rio beach to reconnect with Brazil and the songs that brought her international recognition.
Bebel sings in Portuguese and English, surrounded by acoustic guitar, winds, keyboards, drums, and percussion by Marcos Suzano. Flávio Renegado joins her on Na Palma da Mão, and Liminha takes over on bass for Rio, by Duran Duran. The scenery also shapes the pacing: the sun sets during Simplesmente, and the moon appears during Aganjú.
The performance is released on CD and DVD in 2013 by Biscoito Fino, directed by Gringo Cardia and with musical production by Kassin and Liminha. It is Bebel's first release to reach Brazil before coming out abroad. Tanto Tempo remains at the center of this retrospective: the recording brings a repertoire that traveled the world back to Rio's shoreline.
- Flávio Renegado joins her on Na Palma da Mão; Liminha plays bass on Rio.
- Simplesmente accompanies the sunset, and Aganjú finds the moon in the background.
