Teresa Cristina & Rita Benneditto & Jussara Silveira — Três Meninas do Brasil ao Vivo
Recorded August 24, 2008
Teatro Municipal de Niterói · Niterói ·
Brazil
“To see the collaboration that premiered in 2007 captured in Niterói, bringing together three singers under Jaime Alem's direction.”
Context
In August 2008, three musical paths share the stage at Teatro Municipal de Niterói. Teresa Cristina, Rita Ribeiro — now Rita Benneditto — and Jussara Silveira revisit the collaboration that premiered in December 2007. Teresa's wish to write songs with Rita had paved the way for a shared show.
Jaime Alem leads the music, with artistic direction by Jean Wyllys. The singers alternate solos, duets and trios, backed by acoustic guitars, bass, drums and percussion. Rita plays a drum on Divino; Teresa and Jussara share Lá Vem a Baiana. Before the song, the evening makes room for a tribute to Dorival Caymmi.
The collaboration reaches stores in January 2009 on CD and DVD through Maria Bethânia's Quitanda label, with Biscoito Fino. The video edition preserves performances absent from the album, including Lá Vem a Baiana and Pôxa. The recording captures this exchange among voices, not just three individual performances.

Trivia
Before Lá Vem a Baiana, the singers pay tribute to Dorival Caymmi, who died that month.
The show's title comes from the song by Moraes Moreira and Fausto Nilo released in 1980.
The DVD brings together solos, duets and trios, including the Na Cabecinha da Dora / Nega do Cabelo Duro medley.
