Context
In January 2009, Rita Lee returns to Vivo Rio with four decades in music as a reason to gather. The Pic Nic tour had begun in the city in early 2008 and had already traveled across Brazil and abroad. Now, the stage hosts a recording production directed by Rodrigo Carelli.
Roberto de Carvalho and Beto Lee share guitar duties, while Débora Reis and Rita Kfouri get room on vocals. Rita strings together Flagra, Saúde, and Mutante, pairs Cor de Rosa Choque with Todas as Mulheres do Mundo, and turns Bwana into wordplay with Obama. In Vítima, she appears as a secret agent, shrouded in half-light.
The performance is released on CD and DVD by Biscoito Fino in May 2009. Se Manca and Insônia find room among songs already embedded in popular memory; Baby brings in Tropicália references, and Lança Perfume meets Chiquita Bacana. The recording captures this balance between taking stock of a career and the desire to keep adding to it.
- Bwana incorporates Obama into its lyrics, just days after the American president's inauguration.
- Cor de Rosa Choque and Todas as Mulheres do Mundo share a tribute to Leila Diniz.
