Context
On August 29, 2013, the birthday celebration moves out of the house and into the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro. Edu Lobo turns 70 and celebrates five decades of his career. The party takes the form of a gathering of collaborators, interpreters and family, with a sextet and string orchestra onstage.
Cristóvão Bastos handles piano, arrangements and musical direction. Edu sings Chegança and Upa Neguinho, welcomes Maria Bethânia for Prá Dizer Adeus and shares Ponteio with his son Bena. Chico Buarque joins him for A História de Lily Braun, Lábia and Choro Bandido. Mônica Salmaso appears on three songs, including Valsa Brasileira.
Na Carreira brings all four guests together with the birthday celebrant; Canto Triste follows, before the bonus track Pé de Vento. In 2014, the celebration gets a DVD release from Biscoito Fino and a selection on CD. The gathering no longer belongs only to that audience: it preserves the composer singing his work alongside those who share it.
- Na Carreira brings Maria Bethânia, Chico Buarque, Mônica Salmaso and Bena Lobo together with their host.
