“To see the audience-free session that becomes Crown Lands' first live album, in 2021.”
Context
Without an audience, two musicians have to carry an hour-long concert. In 2021, Crown Lands turns that pandemic limitation into a document of a phase: the self-titled debut was already out, White Buffalo had just widened their progressive horizon, and the duo was preparing new dates in Ontario.
Cody Bowles handles both vocals and drums; Kevin Comeau splits the work between guitars, bass and keyboards. Inner Light opens the journey, which passes through Mountain and End Of The Road before reaching the extended pieces Context: Fearless Pt. I and The Oracle. Reflections closes the filmed sequence.
The virtual premiere takes place on November 18, in partnership with Louder Sound, ahead of the final dates of The Big Wave Tour. In December, the session gets a second life as the band's first live album. The project embraces small imperfections as part of the recording, instead of erasing the marks of the performance.
- The Oracle takes up more than fourteen minutes in the final part of the concert.
