Santana emerged in San Francisco in 1966 as the Santana Blues Band, led by Mexican guitarist Carlos Santana. Its performance at the Woodstock festival in 1969 opened the way for the debut album and for Abraxas, which featured versions of “Black Magic Woman” and “Oye Como Va”.
After a period of lower exposure, the band returned to the top of the charts with Supernatural, from 1999, driven by the single “Smooth”.
