Tour albumSongbook (Live à la Gare)“For the Coltrane centennial tribute that brings different generations of jazz together at Studio 104 in Paris.”
Context
In September 2026, the John Coltrane centennial brings musicians together at Studio 104 of the Maison de la radio et de la musique in Paris. Raphaël Imbert leads the tribute as saxophonist and master of ceremonies. The gathering does not reproduce a historical Coltrane lineup: it offers a contemporary reading of his music and his thinking.
Nina Gat, France Duclairoir and Ananda Brandão take part in a musical meditation tied to the photograph of Coltrane in front of a work by Pierre Soulages. In another group, Imbert joins singer Célia Kameni, pianist Pierre-François Blanchard, Pierre-François Dufour on drums and cello, and bassist Pierre Fenichel.
The September 12 recording brings together composition, poetry and the spiritual dimension associated with the saxophonist. A Love Supreme serves as a reference point for the project, without meaning a complete performance of the album. Running more than two hours, the ARTE recording documents the tribute and puts today's performers at the center of the stage.
