Album featured at the showDjesse Vol. 12018The reunion with the Metropole Orkest revisits four songs from the first Djesse, recorded with the orchestra and Jules Buckley.“To see Collier close his North Sea Jazz residency bringing together his band and the Metropole Orkest under Jules Buckley.”
Context
Three days, three stage concepts. In July 2025, Jacob Collier takes over North Sea Jazz as artist in residence and saves Sunday to bring his band together with the Metropole Orkest. On the Maas stage in Rotterdam, Jules Buckley conducts the reunion with the orchestra that played on Djesse Vol. 1.
With the Love in My Heart opens the sequence, followed by Count the People and Hideaway. The program passes through Bach's concerto for two violins and reaches songs by The Police and Lionel Richie. Erin Bentlage and Parijita Bastola are part of the band; Suzie Collier adds her violin to the meeting.
Wild Mountain Thyme makes room for Collier to conduct the audience too, before All Night Long and the final orchestral improvisation. The residency ends, but the video recording keeps this hybrid format: band, orchestra and audience within the same concept. The first volume of Djesse reappears as a meeting point, not as a limit on the program.
- Wild Mountain Thyme includes Collier conducting the audience before the move into All Night Long.
