Setlist not available.
Album featured at the showMoonlight Serenade2005The special presents standards from Moonlight Serenade alongside Carly Simon's own hits.“To see Carly Simon cross the Atlantic with an orchestra, before her first tour in more than a decade.”
Context
Between New York and Southampton, the stage crosses the Atlantic. In September 2005, Carly Simon boards the Queen Mary 2 for two performances, shortly after Moonlight Serenade reached number seven in the United States. The ballroom hosts a singer who still made concerts rare occasions.
In front of an audience in formal wear, Simon alternates standards and her own songs, backed by a fifteen-piece orchestra. I've Got You Under My Skin and I Only Have Eyes for You share space with You're So Vain and Nobody Does It Better. Outside the ballroom, acoustic guitars and voices carry a more private acoustic session.
The night at sea comes before the Serenade Tour, her first tour in more than a decade. The performances reach DVD in November 2005 and a television version on PBS in December. The film preserves this interval between her commercial comeback with standards and her return to American theaters.
- The acoustic session brings together Carly Simon, her daughter Sally Taylor and guitarist Vin D'Onofrio.
