Raised By Owls — Bloodstock Open Air 2024

At 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, Bloodstock's main stage welcomes a band dressed as priests. Raised By Owls turns the morning slot into a satirical sermon, three months after releasing Vol.3: (The Satirical Verses). At Catton Park, the contrast between extreme metal and British humor shapes the performance.

Sam Strachan leads a ceremony that includes his own mother and a wall of death split over the pronunciation of scone. Comedy Metal Is a Fucking Embarrassment leads the way; Dance Like Barney Greenway and Strictly Come Danzig bring satire of metal culture to center stage.

In the final stretch, The Dark and Twisted Realm in Which Fred Durst Resides sets up the transition to Limp Bizkit's Break Stuff. The full recording reaches the public in September 2024 and preserves this combination of songs and stage antics. Comedy does not fill the breaks: it structures the show.
