Context
On Sunday, August 11, 2024, Carcass takes the second-to-last slot on Bloodstock's main stage, before Amon Amarth. At Catton Park, Summer Incision 2024 finds the band with Torn Arteries still its latest release. The set brings different decades of the group into the same space.
Jeff Walker handles vocals and bass, with Bill Steer and James Blackford on guitars and Daniel Wilding on drums. Buried Dreams opens the performance; Kelly's Meat Emporium soon brings in the 2021 album. Later, Genital Grinder and Pyosisified revisit the first album. The set does not follow a chronology: it lets the past interrupt the present.
The final stretch slips in an excerpt from Ruptured in Purulence before Heartwork and saves Tools of the Trade and Reek of Putrefaction for the farewell. In September, the festival itself releases the full performance. The recording preserves this passage between musical approaches: Carcass does not choose a single period to represent its history.
- Ruptured in Purulence introduces Heartwork in the final stretch.
