Context
On August 13, 2023, Tribulation arrives on Bloodstock's main stage with a change already settled in: Joseph Tholl fills the guitar spot previously held by Jonathan Hultén. Hamartia had come out in April, making room for this lineup to write new material. The festival finds the quartet between revisiting its past and its next album.
At Catton Park, Johannes Andersson handles vocals and bass, Adam Zaars shares guitar duties with Tholl, and Oscar Leander plays drums. Melancholia opens the sequence after Trollens Brudmarsch. Hamartia brings the recent material into the set, while Rånda and Nightbound reach further back. In Remembrance and Leviathans precede the closing Strange Gateways Beckon.
The season continues with shows in Mexico in September. The next studio album, Sub Rosa In Æternum, arrives in 2024, after this appearance at the English festival. The full Bloodstock recording remains a document of that transition: it captures the lineup with Tholl before the sixth album, still working through the repertoire built with his predecessor.
