Context
In August 2017, Possessed arrives at Catton Hall three decades after their last studio album. Jeff Becerra is the only remaining member of the classic lineup. The deal with Nuclear Blast already points toward new material, but Sunday at Bloodstock still belongs mostly to the 1980s.
Becerra handles vocals, joined by Daniel Gonzalez and Claudeous Creamer on guitars, Robert Cardenas on bass, and Emilio Marquez on drums. Confessions opens a run of four tracks from The Eyes of Horror. Then The Heretic and Tribulation meet the unreleased Shadowcult, before a closing stretch of three songs from Seven Churches.
The professional recording begins circulating in 2017 and later takes on another role in the band's recording comeback. In 2019, Shadowcult reappears as a single from Revelations of Oblivion, accompanied by footage from the festival. The full show is included on Blu-ray in the album's box set: the meeting of the old repertoire and the comeback is preserved.
- Four tracks from The Eyes of Horror open the show; Death Metal closes the performance.
