Context
In August 2018, DevilDriver arrives at Bloodstock after a recent change of direction in the studio: the band had released an album of country covers. On Sunday, August 12, the date is on the Ronnie James Dio stage at Catton Park, during the band's European run.
Dez Fafara leads the quintet, with Mike Spreitzer and Neal Tiemann on guitars, Diego Ibarra on bass, and Austin D'Amond on drums. Circle pits open up early on the grass. The wind and muddy mix blunt the impact, but Clouds Over California draws the strongest crowd response.
After Catton Park, the route continues to Belfast and Dublin. The festival itself releases the full performance in December of that year, preserving this meeting between the band and its English audience. The recording captures a specific period in the lineup, before Tiemann, Ibarra, and D'Amond depart in the following years.
- Clouds Over California marks the final stretch, with circle pits on the grass at Catton Park.
