Context
On August 12, 2017, Bloodstock's Saturday finds Municipal Waste with a new album and two guitars. Slime and Punishment had ended a five-year gap between studio albums. At Catton Park, Nick Poulos shares guitar duties with Ryan Waste, expanding what had previously been a four-piece lineup.
Tony Foresta leads a run that starts with Mind Eraser and moves through Beer Pressure, Terror Shark and Sadistic Magician. Breathe Grease and Slime and Punishment place the recent material among songs from Hazardous Mutation and The Art of Partying. In front of the Ronnie James Dio Stage, the crowd racks up 711 instances of crowd surfing: a festival record.
Born to Party closes the set, and Saturday continues with Hatebreed, Kreator and Ghost on the main stage. In December, the full performance becomes available in Bloodstock's audiovisual archive. The recording preserves a specific encounter: the band presents its new two-guitar lineup while the audience turns the front of the stage into a continuous stream of bodies.
