Zeca Pagodinho is the sambista who turned Rio street savvy into a laid-back philosophy of life. Discovered in the rodas of Cacique de Ramos and launched by Beth Carvalho, who recorded “Camarão que Dorme a Onda Leva” in 1983, he made his recording debut in 1986 and became synonymous with partido-alto, good humor and backyard samba.
“Deixa a Vida Me Levar”, “Verdade” and “Vai Vadiar” cemented the hoarse voice and easygoing delivery that cross generations, from Xerém to all of Brazil.
