Context
At eleven on Saturday morning, death metal takes over the main stage at Catton Hall. On August 11, 2012, Benediction makes its third visit to Bloodstock and faces a crowd still feeling the effects of Friday. Killing Music, from 2008, remains its most recent studio album.
Dave Hunt deals with a leg injury but keeps in touch with the crowd between songs. The singer calls the gathering the Benediction Breakfast Club and uses humor to get through the awkward time slot. Nightfear opens the set; They Must Die Screaming, The Grotesque and Magnificat carry it forward.
The performance opens a Saturday that ends with Machine Head, with Mayhem, Hatebreed and Testament along the way. The full recording begins circulating online in 2013, preserving this daylight gathering. Between Hunt's physical limitations and the band's commitment to the stage, a morning of heavy work is documented.
- Dave Hunt leads the show with a leg injury and turns the time slot into a source of humor.
