Context
Slipknot returns to Brazil in 2011 after the death of Paul Gray the year before. The Memorial World Tour keeps the bassist at the center of the band's memory. On September 25, the City of Rock hosts the group with Donnie Steele on bass, playing out of the audience's sight, behind the stage.
(sic) opens the block played live, followed by Eyeless and Wait and Bleed. The Blister Exists, Pulse of the Maggots and Psychosocial cross different albums. Before the close, Spit It Out turns the crowd into part of the performance's movement. People = Shit and Surfacing take the set to the end.
'Til We Die plays as a recorded closer, extending the tribute to Gray. The concert keeps Joey Jordison on drums and a band resuming its shows after losing a founder. The Rio recording carries that specific weight: the songs go on, but the bassist's absence reshapes everyone's presence on stage.
