Context
On May 23, 1999, Pinkpop's main stage welcomes a trio that takes the dance floor to the scale of the big festivals. Underworld arrives in Landgraaf with Beaucoup Fish freshly released and with Karl Hyde, Rick Smith and Darren Emerson still together, before the DJ's departure the following year.
Hyde crosses the stage in his big headphones, while voice and guitar meet the machinery of sequencers and computers. Rez opens the run; Push Upstairs, Cups and Jumbo set the new record in motion. Further on, Born Slippy .NUXX and Cowgirl lead the journey to Moaner, before the Dark Train encore.
The 1999 tour finds another outlet in Everything, Everything, released on CD and DVD from several performances, not to be confused with this Pinkpop footage. Emerson leaves the group in 2000. The Landgraaf recording preserves this three-member lineup in a phase that soon comes to an end.
