Context
On May 31, 2004, the Pinkpop 3FM tent welcomes a Goldfrapp far from the restraint of its debut. Black Cherry had moved Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory's project toward synthpop and dancefloor music. In Landgraaf, that change already sits at the center of the set.
Alison steps into that world in black clothes, stiletto boots, a hat and a tail attached to her outfit. The excerpt begins with Deer Stop, from Felt Mountain, before chaining Train, Tiptoe and Twist. Strict Machine and Slippage widen the presence of Black Cherry; Yes Sir, I Can Boogie brings the stage close to Baccara's disco.
The performance is part of the festival's audiovisual coverage by Dutch media and remains a broadcast recording, with no confirmed commercial release of its own. The following year, Supernature deepens the dance direction. Between the debut and that expansion, Pinkpop preserves a concrete stage of the transformation: the old repertoire still appears, but Black Cherry sets the course.
- Deer Stop keeps Felt Mountain in the program, while Yes Sir, I Can Boogie brings Baccara to the close of the excerpt.
