Context
On June 1, 2008, Pinkpop saves the closing slot of its GMnext tent for Róisín Murphy. The singer arrives in Landgraaf with Overpowered, her second solo album, released the year before. After the experiments of Ruby Blue, this phase takes a more explicitly pop direction, tied to disco and the dance floor.
Onstage, Murphy changes outfits again and again and reorganizes her songs into a danceable flow, with reminders of Moloko along the way. The chair from Primitive returns to the act even after the accident in Moscow. At the close, she rolls across the floor with the backing vocalists in a staged fight: the body also drives the show.
After Landgraaf, the tour moves on to other European festivals and runs until November. The cycle widens the reach of Overpowered without erasing the singer's theatrical identity. The show remains preserved in Pinkpop's audiovisual archive, as a document of a solo career that turns the dance floor into a space for staging.
- The staging of Primitive keeps the chair in the act after the Moscow accident.
