Context
On May 24, 1999, Pinkpop comes to an end with Faithless on Megaland's main stage. The edition is sold out, with 61,250 visitors. After Alanis Morissette, the band takes the closing slot in the Sunday 8PM era, when God Is a DJ had already widened its reach.
Maxi Jazz holds the front while Sister Bliss runs the keyboards. Reverence opens the way between the first record and the second, with Insomnia, Salva Mea and Bring My Family Back. House shares the space with ballads. In God Is a DJ, the crowd's chorus grows until it drowns out the band.
The encore brings Postcards and Drifting Away before returning to Take the Long Way Home and God Is a DJ. Faithless comes back to the festival in 2002 and 2005, while this night remains in Pinkpop's audiovisual archive. The recording preserves a closing set in which electronic music takes the center of the festival.
- God Is a DJ sparks a chorus that ends up drowning out the band.
