Tears for Fears

Formed in Bath, England, in 1981, Tears for Fears is the duo of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, who turned primal therapy into synthpop. The Hurting dealt with childhood trauma with electronic coolness; Songs from the Big Chair took that anguish to arenas with “Shout”, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” and “Head over Heels”.

The Seeds of Love embraced Beatles-inspired psychedelia, and after periods apart the duo returned in 2022 with The Tipping Point, a mature record about grief and starting over.
