Album featured at the showTapestry1971The show celebrates Tapestry's 45th anniversary with the first complete performance of the album, in its original order.“To see Carole King play Tapestry in full for the first time, in Hyde Park, 45 years after its release.”
Context
On July 3, 2016, Carole King returns to British stages after an absence dating back to 1989. In front of 65,000 people in Hyde Park, the plan is specific: play Tapestry in full for the first time, following the order of the album as it turns 45.
At the piano, King opens with I Feel the Earth Move and moves through the twelve tracks with a band that includes Danny Kortchmar, who played on the original recording. Louise Goffin joins her mother on Where You Lead, Will You Love Me Tomorrow and Smackwater Jack. Afterward, the program makes room for other songs.
The encore brings the London cast of Beautiful for a reprise of I Feel the Earth Move; King closes without the band, returning to You've Got a Friend. In 2017, the performance is released on CD/DVD and Blu-ray. The meeting turns the celebration of an album into a stage record of its own.
- Louise Goffin joins her mother on three tracks.
