Context
In 2004, Heaven takes three brothers from San Angelo beyond the Texas circuit. The first album had already moved from an independent release to distribution by Epic. At the Fillmore in San Francisco, Los Lonely Boys find a stage to present this mix of rock, blues and Mexican roots.
Henry Garza takes guitar and vocals, Jojo holds down the bass and Ringo is on drums; all three sing. Reese Wynans adds keyboards to the lineup. Crazy Dream opens the set, Dime Mi Amor and Onda get their space, and the versions of Cisco Kid and La Bamba bring the trio close to other strands of American music.
The following year, Heaven earns the group the Grammy for pop performance by a duo or group with vocals. The Fillmore stop also yields a 12-track album and a film of more than two and a half hours. The recording preserves the scale of that first breakthrough: a debut album carrying an entire night.
- Reese Wynans adds keyboards to the core of guitar, bass, drums and voices.
